Our Office. Your Experience.

We are extremely patient friendly. Our outer office provides many amenities for patient comfort: 2 internet stations, TV, Massage Chair, Soothing Music, Coffee, Tea, Bottled Water, Soft drinks, Snacks, etc. The walls are a calming blue and we even have fluorescent light lenses which look like clouds in the ceiling to reduce any sense of claustrophobia.

You will be asked to complete a 2 page information form. Please bring your insurance card, a photo ID, and the script from your doctor. If you are getting an MRI due to a motor vehicle accident or workers' comp claim, you will be asked to provide the insurance company name, claim number, claim adjuster's name and claim adjuster’s phone number.

You will be asked to change into a gown OR you may wear/bring your own clothes. No metal zippers, belts, jewelry, watch, etc. Lockers are available to store your purse, wallet, and any metal items during your scan.

When we are ready to do your scan you will enter the scan room. You will be asked to lie on a comfortable table. The table slowly enters the scanner after the tech landmarks the area to be scanned.

When the scan begins you will hear many different series of banging. We give you ear protection from the banging. We have special headphones which can play music or the audio from a movie for instance. You must lie still during your study.

Depending on the study your doctor ordered , we may need to come into the room part way through your study and give you an injection (in your veins) of contrast dye. We use the safest contrast available. Please click here for more information on contrast:

After your scan we can give you a disc of your images to take to your doctor. Dr. Chao will fax a report to your doctor the same day.

We want you to be comfortable for your exam. If you are very anxious you should let your doctor know. We can schedule valium IV which can be given by a physician during your exam. We can also schedule general anesthesia performed by an outpatient anesthesiologist if we can arrange all the proper authorizations. We do have oxygen and suction in the scan room. This is very unusual in outpatient facilities but we want to provide the very best care for our patients.
